Castle Rock Dam, Wisconsin

Castle Rock Dam in not really a secret fishing spot but from time to time on the right day you can see 4 – ½ sturgeon cruising along the dam walls plus pike musky and even carp.  All the photos below were take right at the Castle Rock Dam on the Adams County, Central WI. side back in May!

More Castle Rock Dam Photos & Pictures

Stop in an talk to Dan for Dan’s Dam Bait Shop located right next to the parking lot.  This area is kind of unique because you have the south end of Castle Rock Lake above the dam the Wisconsin River open all the way to Wisconsin Dells below the dam, a sandy beach with boat launch and a trout stream that meets the river just a couple hundred feet south of the dam WITH it’s own little dam.  Plus you can see a wide variety of bird like sea gulls, wild ducks & geese skimming the water all around this area.

“More Dam History”

Castle Rock Hydroelectric Dam was constructed by Wisconsin River Power Company during the mid to late 1940’s to provide cheap clean energy plus make a highly profitable recreational area down the road.  This dam blocked off the Wisconsin river plus the Yellow River, Little Yellow River, Klein Creek plus both Little Roche-A-Cri & Big Roche Cri Creeks from there natural flow.   Link for restoring our Wisconsin Rivers - http://www.wisconsinrivers.org/
